My friend gave me a cheque to pay off a debt I owe, but when I gave it to my creditor, the bank bounced it. What can I do now? Should I send a notice to my friend? Am I still responsible to my creditor?

You should send your friend a notice demanding payment and informing them of the bounced cheque. While you are not directly liable for the debt if the cheque was given in good faith, you may be held responsible if you do not take reasonable steps to recover the money from your friend.
