My friend borrowed money from me to give to someone who promised him a job. It’s been over 4 months and he hasn’t got the job or repaid the money. He keeps making empty promises and hasn’t paid up. I was patient at first, but I got frustrated and sent him a message using some strong language asking for my money back. Now he’s threatening legal action because of my language. All our transactions are documented online. I have a cheque from him that I’m sure will bounce. What should I do now?

Your friend’s threat of legal action might be baseless as your frustration with non-payment is understandable. However, using strong language can be construed as harassment. Focus on recovering your money. Send a formal demand letter through a lawyer, highlighting the documented transactions and the bounced cheque. This will strengthen your position and potentially deter further legal threats.
