My father took a loan from a harsh moneylender who charged exorbitant interest. He also signed 7 blank cheques. Can we cancel these cheques if we report the chequebook missing to the police and file an FIR?

Reporting the chequebook missing and filing an FIR may prevent the moneylender from immediately using the blank cheques. However, it won’t necessarily cancel the debt or the loan agreement. The burden will likely lie on you to prove the exorbitant interest rate and the unfair terms of the loan agreement, which can be a challenging process.
