If a cheque I’ve received bounces, what are the next steps I should take? Any advice for dealing with this situation in India?

If a cheque bounces, send a legal notice to the drawer demanding payment within 15 days. If they fail to comply, file a criminal complaint under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, with the appropriate court. You can also file a civil suit for recovery of the cheque amount.
