I lost a cheque for ₹35,000 that I signed in January. Now, in November, someone called saying it bounced and threatened legal action unless I pay them ₹15,000. I immediately filed a police complaint on the same day. The bank isn’t helping. What can I do?

You should immediately contact the bank and inform them about the lost cheque and the threat. Also, provide them with a copy of your police complaint. You can claim the lost cheque was not presented within a reasonable time and may not be legally enforceable. Seek legal counsel to understand your rights and explore options for challenging the claim.
