I lent a friend ₹20,000 and gave them a blank cheque as a guarantee. I later paid them back in cash. However, they gave the cheque to someone else who filled it out for ₹80,000 and it bounced. Now, I’m facing a cheque bounce case and my lawyer says I’ll lose if I go to court. He wants me to settle out of court for ₹1 lakh. I feel cheated and helpless. What should I do?

You should consult another lawyer immediately. Your friend’s actions are illegal, and you have a strong case to defend yourself. A second lawyer can assess your situation and advise you on the best course of action, which may include pursuing legal action against your friend for forgery and misrepresentation.
