To get a driving license in India, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Learner’s License: To apply for a learner’s license, you need to visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) or apply online on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ website. You need to fill out the application form and provide proof of identity, address, and age. You also need to pay the applicable fee. Once your application is processed, you will need to take a learner’s license test that includes a written exam on traffic rules and regulations.

learning period

  1. Learning Period: After you receive your learner’s license, you can start practicing driving. You should practice with an experienced and licensed driver who is allowed to supervise learners. You need to follow all traffic rules and regulations while practicing.
  2. Driving Test: When you are ready, you can schedule a driving test with the RTO. The driving test includes a practical driving skill test and a written test on traffic rules and regulations. You will need to bring your learner’s license, vehicle registration certificate, and insurance certificate for the test. If you pass both tests, you will be issued a driving license.
  3. Permanent Driving License: After passing the driving test, you can apply for a permanent driving license. You need to fill out the application form and provide proof of identity, address, and age. You also need to pay the applicable fee. You will be issued a driving license if your application is processed successfully.
  4. Medical Fitness: You need to undergo a medical fitness test, which includes a vision test, to ensure that you are fit to drive.
  5. Collecting the License: After the driving license is issued, you can collect it from the RTO office.

It is important to note that the requirements and procedures for obtaining a driving license may vary depending on the state in which you reside. Some states may require additional documents or tests. Therefore, it is advisable to check the specific requirements of your state before applying for a driving license.
