My family has some land in front of our shop, which belongs to the Nagar Palika. My father had a court order preventing the Nagar Palika from using it, but after his passing, they want to auction it off. I’m eager to buy that land at the government’s rate. How can I proceed? Also, we’ve done some unauthorized construction. How can I avoid any penalties for that?

You can approach the Nagar Palika with a formal request to purchase the land at the government rate, citing the previous court order and your father’s ownership. Regarding the unauthorized construction, you can apply for regularization under the relevant municipal bylaws, paying the applicable fees and penalties.
